QuestionsAnswered by the desk
The twelve things people ask before they call.
Written by the person who answers the phone, so the wording is close to what you would hear on it. If your question is not here, ask it directly and I will add the answer.
Scope, money, keys and everything else
Every panel opens with the keyboard. Deep links work, so you can send someone straight to one answer.
Advisory work is charged by the day, from 1 200 EUR plus VAT, and the written scope always carries a fixed number of days so you know the ceiling before you sign. A short architecture review usually lands between three and six days. Training workshops are priced per session rather than per person.
Travel outside Bucharest is billed at cost and agreed in advance. There is no retainer and no minimum term.
No. My clients are companies and project teams, and every contract is signed between your company and my registered practice. Someone asking about their own personal holdings is outside that scope, and I say so plainly on the phone rather than taking the booking.
It keeps the desk pointed at system design and operations, which is the work I am actually good at.
You do, throughout. I work on your infrastructure with your engineers driving, usually over a shared screen. I hold no client keys, client funds or client assets of any kind, and none of that is needed for a review.
Where an engagement needs read access to a monitoring system, it is granted by your team, scoped to the job and revoked at the end. That is written into the scope document.
The desk is one person, so full delivery is not what I offer. I will pair with your engineers, write configuration alongside them, review pull requests and draft runbooks, but the code stays in your repository under your names.
If you need extra hands, I can name two or three development shops I have worked next to and let you take it from there. There is no fee for that introduction.
Yes. Thirty minutes, no fee, no invoice afterwards and no obligation to continue. It exists so I can understand the situation and tell you whether this is the right desk.
A fair share of those calls end with a recommendation that costs me the work, usually some version of "your problem is a database problem". Better to find that out on a free call.
Yes, and I can send mine if you do not have one ready. Signing it before the first call is fine, and most clients do exactly that when the project is not public yet.
Nothing about a client goes on this site without written permission, which is why the comments on the home page carry names, roles and cities rather than company logos.
No. I am an engineer, not a lawyer. What I produce is the technical description a lawyer or an accountant needs: how the system works, who controls what, where records live and which facts a regulator will ask about.
I write that handover and work directly with your counsel. If you do not have counsel yet, I can suggest firms in Bucharest that already understand the sector.
That is one of the most common jobs I take, and it is a short one. The test is whether several organisations need the same record and none of them can be the host. If one company owns the data and the others already trust it, a shared database with signed exports does the job for a fraction of the running cost.
When the answer is no, you get it in writing with the reasoning, which is usually enough to settle an internal argument.
Bitcoin and Ethereum in depth, including node operation and validator work on Ethereum. Beyond those, I have production experience with Cosmos SDK chains and with Hyperledger Fabric for permissioned setups.
If your project sits on something I do not know, I say so. Learning a new protocol on your budget is not a service.
I do not operate machines on behalf of clients. What I do is design the setup with your team, write the on-call procedure, sit with your engineers through the first upgrade cycle and review the result after 30 and 90 days.
Keeping the operating role with you avoids a situation where the person who designed the system is the only one who can explain it.
English by default, Romanian on request. Documents can be delivered in either, with about two days added for the Romanian version of a long handover pack.
Sessions with mixed teams run in English so nobody is reading a translation afterwards.
Send a few sentences through the form on the contact page or call +40 746 162 748 between 09:00 and 18:00 EET. Say what exists today and what is blocking it.
I reply with two or three slots for the free 30 minute call. If that call goes anywhere, a written scope follows within two to four days.
Still unanswered
Ask the thing that is not on this page.
If your question needed a page like this to be answered, it probably deserves a phone call instead. The desk is open Monday to Friday, and questions from other advisers are welcome on the same line.
